Pulwama Attack: The Black Day

14th February 2019, will be remembered as a black day in the history of India. On this day, a dreadful terror attack on the CRPF convoy in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir not only rocked the entire country but also brought forth shivers down the spine. The 40 martyred in the attack raised a wave of sorrow and anger throughout the nation.

How did Pulwama attack happen?

On 14th February 2019 while moving a convoy of CRPF personnel from Jammu to Srinagar, a terrorist exploded himself.

The terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammed took responsibility for the attack. He rammed his car into a bus in the convoy of CRPF, which resulted in a massive blast. The explosion was so powerful that several soldiers were killed on the spot, and many others were seriously injured.

How India take revenge of Pulwama attack:

February 14, 2019, was the day when India witnessed a heart-wrenching suicide attack where 40 Indian CRPF soldiers lost their lives. This terrorist act was solely the act of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), which is an India-Pakistan resistance group located in Pakistan.
The new campaign by India on March 26, 2019, when Indian Air Force (IAF) undertook a targeted missile strike on a camp located somewhere in Balakot, Pakistan, therefore, escalated the tensions between the two countries. Operation Bandar was the code name of the operation and the missile aimed at the camp was believed to have caused the deaths of many insurgents.
This attack was highly symbolic as the last time India carried out an airstrike on Pakistan was the 1971 war. IAF used precision bombs during this mission to lessen the number of civilian casualties and the attack was viewed a retaliation for the Pulwama attack.
Following the Pulwama incident on February 27, 2019, Pakistan’s Army immediately struck back. This resulted in dogfights between the two countries’ air forces, India’s F-16 shot down a Pakistani Jet and Indian Air Force was able to capture a Pakistani pilot, Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman who was later released in good faith by the Pakistani side.

. The assailant, Adil Ahmad Dar, operated a Mahindra Scorpio SUV filled with explosives. The vehicle contained approximately 80 kilograms (176 pounds) of high-grade explosives, including RDX (Research Department Explosive), which is a potent military-grade explosive.

. The SUV was intentionally driven into the convoy, and the blast was so intense that it immediately claimed the lives of 40 CRPF soldiers and left many others injured.

2.Ammunitions and Explosives:

. The explosives involved in the attack were mainly RDX, a substance frequently utilized in improvised explosive devices (IEDs). RDX is known for its high effectiveness and potency, which makes it a favored option for suicide bombings.

. The powerful explosion also resulted in considerable damage to the nearby area, with reports indicating that vehicles were destroyed and buildings were impacted by the shockwave.

Security check:

The attack was meticulously planned, allowing the vehicle to evade security checks before it detonated, showcasing a significant level of coordination. This bombing, one of the most lethal assaults on Indian security forces in the area, ignited widespread outrage across India and prompted demands for more robust measures against terrorism and militant groups based in Pakistan.
